A common medium sized hardwood that grows extensively over the eastern half of the USA up to the south eastern corridor of Canada, the White Oak family comprises of a number of different species that vary accordingly to the place of origin.

ranges from pale ochre to a mid-brown with shades of grey and pink. The timber has a coarse texture that yields a prominent flame pattern when the crown cut which is the most common cut imported into Australia. Its sapwood is easily distinguished from its heartwood, due to it almost being almost white.

American White Oak uses range from high-end furniture and architectural interiors todoors, flooring and panelling.
