A tall tree commonly found in Ghana. Anegre is a very good substitute for Tasmanian Oak due to its closeness in colour and hardness. Anegre is more consistent in colour and it is an easier timber for polishing.
General Characteristics
Generally with a straight grain but sometimes wavy. The wood is lustrous and is siliceous as well. It is a hard strong timber.

Colour / Pattern
Heartwood is cream to tan with pinkish tinge. Generally even in colour.Possesses a similar look to Tasmanian Oak generally with a straight grain.
Uses
Anegre can be used for very high class joinery, cabinet work, and furniture.
